Left Out of Group Chat

When your teen discovers their friends have a group chat or online conversation without them.

Ages 11-17

What's Happening

For a teen with RSD, discovering a group chat they're not in feels like concrete proof of social rejection. It's visible evidence that people are talking — and they're deliberately excluded.

What They're Feeling

Betrayal, humiliation, confirmation that they're not truly accepted. They're imagining all the things being said about them, convinced the exclusion is intentional and meaningful.

Watch For

Obsessing over screenshots or mentions of the chat, withdrawal from the friend group, angry accusations, or pretending not to care while clearly devastated.
