Not Invited to a Party

Finding out about a birthday party, playdate, or event they weren't included in.

Guide for Parents

What's Happening

This is one of the most painful childhood RSD triggers. Party exclusion feels like social ranking - everyone can see who made the cut and who didn't.

What They're Feeling

Deep shame, the sense that everyone knows they weren't wanted, fear that they're not likeable, and often intense anger (at you, at the other child, at themselves).

Watch For

Not wanting to go to school, refusing to see the child who had the party, obsessive questions about why, and spiraling into broader "nobody likes me" thoughts.
