Teacher Corrected Them
When a teacher points out a mistake, gives correction, or redirects behavior in class.
Guide for Parents
What's Happening
Even gentle correction from authority figures can feel devastating. Teachers represent "the rules" - being corrected by them feels like being marked as bad.
What They're Feeling
Humiliation (especially if it happened in front of class), fear that the teacher hates them now, and often the belief that they're a "bad kid."
Watch For
Refusing to go to school, saying the teacher is "mean" or "hates them," anxiety before that class, or becoming overly perfectionist to avoid future corrections.
